Synopsis
Lonely and sad Kansas farm girl Dorothy Gale dreams of a better place, without torment against her dog Toto
from a hateful neighbor spinster, so she plans to run away. During a fierce tornado, she is struck on the head
and transported to a land 'beyond the rainbow' where she meets magical characters from her Kansas life transformed
within her unconscious dream state. After travels down a Yellow Brick Road to the Land of Oz, and the defeat of the
Wicked Witch of the West, Dorothy and her friends are rewarded by the Wizard of Oz with their hearts' desires
- and Dorothy is enabled to return home to Kansas.
Audition Information for Adults and Children Musical Audition: Prepare piece listed for role desired. Accompanist provided.
16 bars of the Songs will be taught at auditions.
Dance Audition: Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you can move in. All auditioners will learn a dance number.
Readings: Script cuts will be used for cold readings.
Please be prepared to list ALL potential rehearsal and show conflicts.

- Dorothy Gale (age range 14-18)
- Naive Kansas farm girl who finds herself transported over the rainbow to
battle a wicked witch. Vocal range C-F+ Audition song: Somewhere Over the Rainbow
- Zeke/Cowardly Lion (age range 20s-40s)
- Physically skittish, just a dandy lion Vocal range C-F+ Audition song: King of the Forest
- Hickory/Tin Woodman (age range 20s-40s)
- Soft spoken and kind hearted Vocal range C-E+ Audition song: If I Only Had a Heart
- Hunk/Scarecrow (age range 20s-40s)
- Must be limber, not afraid of pratfalls. Dancing ability a must! Vocal range C-E+

- Glinda (age range 20s-40s)
- Sweet and glamorous. Looks after Dorothy. Vocal range C-G+ Audition song: Ding Dong the Witch is Dead
- Aunt Em (age range 40s-60s)
- Dorothy's aunt and caregiver. Aunt Em is
a non-singing role. Actress cast in this role will also be a part of
the chorus. Please plan on singing at auditions. Audition song: Merry Old Land of Oz
- Uncle Henry (age range 40s-60s)
- Dorothy's uncle. Married to Aunt Em.
Uncle Henry is a non-singing role. Actor cast in this role will also be a part of the chorus.

- Prim and proper as Miss Gulch; wicked and evil as the Witch. Miss Gulch/The Wicked Witch
is a non-singing role. Auditioners will be asked to do their best
cackle. Please be prepared to demonstrate at auditions.
- Professor Marvel/The Wizard of Oz (age range 30s-70s)
- Quirky, a bit absent-minded, kindly and yet terrifying as The Wizard.
- Adult Chorus (all ages)
- Trees, Ozians, Winkies and Optomistic Voices, featured dancers and singers Audition song: Merry Old Land of Oz
- Children chorus (age 7-14)
- Munchkins, Lullaby League, Lollipop Guild, City Fathers, Poppies, Flying Monkeys and Crows.
